Description

Physical

  • A beautiful and terrifying exaggerated orc. I'm thinking she's definitely got an approachable face, but the spikes all over her body are twisted and gnarled. Not sure about the rest of her proportions, wouldn't be surprised if they were close to Laidena's for obvious reasons.

Mental

  • Live and learn. At any price necessary.

Musical

  • Symphonic metal. Precise, thought out, but still sinisterly aggressive underneath it all.

Playstyle

Health/Shield Spread

  • Mmm...I think she might be a unique case where she starts off at like 50/10, but one of her spells/passives lets her increase her shield capacity? I'm hesitant to break the rules so quickly, but well Umbra is supposed to be weird as fuck already. If we don't do that, I... can kinda see her going in any direction to almost either extreme, which is why the unique feel is more tempting for her for me right now.

General Feel

  • COPYPASTE: Playing off that and her quest for knowledge, I figure Corvus is 'action' and she is 'prediction,' so one of her spells could let her draw a tetromino on the enemy board (only letting them known one was drawn, not where), and if they make an active block for each block placement she correctly guessed she does damage for.

Passive

Wanna try to explicitly establish a positive and a negative for each.

  • Negative:
  • Positive:

Block

  • COPYPASTE: Umbra Obscura probably has the most boring special blocks that can just be expended to make her spells stronger. However, she has some of the most unusual spells in the game, so she's tricky for even smart players to be as/against, but absolutely deadly when done right. My idea is by consuming her special blocks by having them next to an active match when it's removed, she's able to 'level up' one of her abiltiies. That prediction one gains damage when she levels it up.

Spells

Trying to come up with one purely physical, one purely mental, and one mix for every character, just to make sure each has one.

  • Physical:
  • Mental:
  • Combination:
  • COPYPASTE: Then another idea I had in a similar vein is she can predict a spell, if they use it within the number of turns its cost is wasted and she does minute damage. For that spell, the duration of the prediction is increased, so if she gets too far along she can pretty much shut someone out of spells entirely.
    • It's entirely possible grand characters like the Mosses wouldn't have any solely physical or mental spells anyway, but rather require a mixture of both for every one of their spells in order to compensate their scope.

Feelings about Propositions

Relationship

Corvus

  • In my head, largely predictable, but occasionally infuriating when he finds tools to his own ends. I imagine when he discovers the gate and starts planning accordingly, UO threatens to kill him if he doesn't reveal what he knows, and he calmly responds if she does kill him she'll never know.

Laidena

  • Laidena is the only one to refer to her by full name (and perhaps even come up with it???), so there's an instant bond there. In addition, Laidena willingly communicates information and reflects off her, giving her a touch of understanding people as well as knowledge.

Shadow

  • In my head, interesting to keep tabs on, but ultimately an unfortunate creature that flails for purpose. Still, given he feels he has nothing he often heavily gambles and brings unexpected results.

Issues To Be Resolved

  • I definitely want her to be a kinda 'come from behind' antagonist that kinda catches people off-guard, but I think I PROBABLY make her TOO uninvolved, we'll have to find that sweet spot of being involved enough that people have interest in her while also keeping her at a level where it's not super obvious that she's as powerful and dangerous as her siblings.
